How to make swirls using paper quilling.

Start by taking one strip of 54 inch long paper and dividing it into 4 equal lengths.

Place a tiny drop of glue at the end of each of the 4 parts and stick the ends together.

Once dried, roll the strips around your coiling tool starting with the glued end.  You will end up with something that looks like this.

Gently pull each of the strips such that they are slightly apart from each other.  When you are happy with the way this looks, stick the other ends together.

There you go, you have just created a simple swirl using paper quilling.

For the second type of swirl, you will once again take 4 equal lengths of paper and affix them at one end.

Form a gentle curve using your fingers.

Make a loose coil starting with the first strip and ending close to the glue end.

Continue this with the remaining 3 strips making sure that you stagger the coils.

There you go, you have created a stacked swirl shape.
